Whole30: Day 3

Another day down!  The headaches were definitely not near what they were yesterday, which made the day better already.

The food is tasting great and filling us.  We started using Emeals before we started this Whole30 Program and loved it.  After a long day of work, the last thing I felt like doing was trying to think of what to make for dinner.  Emeals set that up so nicely for us, where we could do our shopping once a week and have everything figured out for the week.  Starting this Program made even more sense too when we saw that they started to offer a Paleo family menu.  So during these 30 days we are adjusting the meal plans accordingly to make sure they fit the program and then continue to use them for days 31 and on.  If you haven't looked into them I highly recommend it.

Our meal plan for today consisted of the following:
Breakfast- Scrambled eggs
Lunch- Leftover Turkey and Lettuce wraps from last night's dinner.
Dinner- Steak and wilted spinach
Snack- small amount of strawberries

Whole30: Day 2

Another day down.  Definitely taking this one day at a time :)  I think the plan for the next 27 days is to try and not focus on the things I can't have and try not to worry as much about food.  Through paying more attention to what I am eating I have noticed how many times sitting at home I would have sought out for a snack just by simply getting up!  The foods I am eating now too have been more or less fulfilling enough that I haven't had a need for them.  The hardest thing I am working with right now are my headaches, which I assume are from my Diet Coke withdrawals.  I am hoping that they will soon go away, but I assumed this much before starting.

We also did our grocery shopping today for this week's worth of food.  We had pre-planned our meals for the week (which is fortunately something that we have been doing for some time anyway).  Looking forward to seeing how the meals turn out this week- stay tuned :)

Speaking of food today we had the following:
Breakfast- Scrambled eggs with pepper
Lunch- Salad, same type as yesterday but we added 1 hard boiled egg to each.
Dinner- Ground turkey lettuce wraps with sweet potato fries.  These were quite good!  They had carrots and onions mixed in and just a little natural flavoring- so full of flavor.

To another day!

Whole30: Day 1- It Changes Today!

So here we go!

What I think I am going to miss the most- Diet Coke and Ice Cream

My starting measurements-
Height- 5'6", Weight- 155 lbs, clothes seem to mainly be a solid 10
My husbands starting measurements-
 Height; 5'10", Weight- 197 lbs

I had hoped that we could get some body measurements today but it turns out we don't have anything to measure with, so if we get one in the next day or two we will do that and put that on here to see where we start.

Today's menu:
- For breakfast we had scrambled eggs with spinach and a little sausage and a side of strawberries.
- Lunch was a salad that included lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, avocado, pork and topped with a little balsamic vinegar.
- And we finished dinner with tilapia, broccoli, and sweet potatoes.
- For a snack after dinner I had a few strawberries and my husband had a banana.

Feeling pretty good about this change.  As we looked and started to throw away items in the house that we will no longer want to eat it was amazing to see all the ingredients on the labels- stuff you could never even imagine.  Definitely made us think about all the junk that we have been eating for so long. Excited to continue this journey.  Let's go Day 2.

Introductions

Hello there and welcome! This is going to be a new adventure for my family and myself and I am excited to share this journey and see how it unfolds.  I am a wife, mother of 2 (2 year old and almost 6 month old), I work in the Corporate world and also recently started up my own small business on the side.  My family means everything to me and I want us all to live a long and healthy life.  With two young ones, time is always very limited and it seems like our energy levels are just on a decline.  After going through two pregnancies I amazed myself by being able to quickly lose the weight and get back to my pre- pregnancy size.  For some reason though I am now slowly starting to see myself put on some of the weight and just feeling constantly tired and gross.  My husband has expressed his own concern and dissatisfaction with himself and his personal weight gain since we've been married.  So here we are, it is time to do something and make a move for ourselves and the betterment of our family and our lifestyle.

Two of our good friends came to visit us during the holidays who have been Paleo followers for almost the past 2 years.  They look amazing and told us what a difference they feel- including health issues that were once there but are no longer.  Our interest was definitely peaked and we immediately began doing research on this Paleo lifestyle.  So...that brings me to where we are now, right here, today.  Our adventure is going to begin tomorrow with day 1 of the Whole30 Program and then into our new lifestyle- yes lifestyle because in order for any "diet" to truly be successful long term it has to become a lifestyle change.

My goal is to use this blog as a way to write about the journey for myself and family.  I want to be honest and open about what we go through.  I hope that anybody who comes across this blog finds it helpful and maybe even inspiring.  After all, we are just a normal couple trying to create a happy and healthy lifestyle.  I hope you enjoy and I know I can honestly say that I can't wait to begin!
